New Year Whole-Hearted Living in 2023

After the uncertainty and anxiety of the continuing challenges of the pandemic and the global challenges of the past two years, I began the new year, not with resolutions, but with a deeper desire for whole hearted living.

I am sharing with you my five ways of wholehearted living so I may invite you to join me into wholehearted living in 2023 amidst all the challenges.

  1. Taking time to reflect every day and keep sabbath

Journal every day for 15 minutes on what is working in my life (blessings) and what is not (corrections to be made) and why, and find three hours a week for rest and restoration to keep Sabbath. When I journal and meditate daily and keep sabbath weekly, I am far more grateful and far less anxious.

  2. Engage with the offscreen world first thing in the morning

Every morning, I go outside before I look at a screen and enjoy being in nature, to be a creature amidst creation, rather than the god of a tiny glowing world.

  3. Care for the earth in small ways

Fires, floods, blizzards… climate change is destroying lives. I will find one or two ways to faithfully care for creation.

  4. Encourage the people around you

Every day I look intentionally for an opportunity to give encouragement to someone in my path, a colleague, a family member, a cashier, a service provider, a child.

  5. Pray for racial healing and for our political leaders, especially those I do not like

I am going to be intentional about building an awareness and working on a systemic level to fight racism. I will pray with gratitude for our political leaders and especially for the ones I do not like. Pray for mercy and justice for human flourishing.

Changed Lives. Renewed Hope.
